Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL) and Gotham Girls FC hosted the first-ever all female U.S. Soccer coaching education course on Nov. 12 (virtual) and Nov. 14 (field). The course was an 11v11 blended course in New York, NY.
"We are extremely excited for this opportunity with US Club Soccer and U.S. Soccer to provide a coaching course as one more way for our young girls in the club to develop a new skillset that will not only enhance their knowledge of the game but will also teach valuable lessons such as responsibility and leadership," said Ali Rubnitz, Executive Director of Gotham Girls FC.
Gotham Girls FC was created over a decade ago to create a safe and welcoming environment for young female soccer players in New York City. The club's goal is to provide a holistic athletic experience for all young female soccer players, starting on the field with developmental soccer, travel soccer, and expanding off the field to college research courses, leadership programs and more.
Gotham Girls FC recognizes the disproportionate amount of women in coaching and stands with U.S. Soccer in their goal to increase the number of women in coaching in the coming years. In doing its part to provide coaching education for Manhattan-based women, Gotham Girls FC hopes to be part of the cultural shift to having many more female coaches throughout the various levels of soccer in the United States.
